My Shopping Box Review 2025

I did this a few years ago but I lost my previous reviews when I migrated my blog so I can’t post them here unfortunately.

Anyway.

Even with the advent of e-commerce sites in the Philippines, there are still somethings in the US or Europe that are not available here. This time I wanted to buy a pair of glasses of a certain style from a certain brand. I found it on Ebay and had it shipped to My Shopping Box’s (will be referred to from here on as MSB) address in the US. Click here to sign up.

If you’ve just discovered or beginning to discover the joys of third-party forwarding, let me introduce to you what it is and how it works.

When buying from another country, you can have it directly shipped to you— this is what we normally do. But the shipping fees are quite high. $24 for less than a kilo? No, thank you.

Here’s where third-party forwarders like Jinio, MSB and LBC Shipping Cart come in. They have warehouses in the US where you can have your orders delivered, then they would send it to your local address. Sounds simple, right?

The exact process will differ depending on the company and the pricing as well.

Here’s how it went with MSB:

I already signed up with them and got my own “suite” number. This is the address I put in when I checked my item out.

Jan. 9 -ordered from Ebay. I put in MSB’s warehouse address.

Jan. 16 -order was delivered to MSB’s warehouse.

Jan. 17 -MSB alerted me that there’s a package under my name.

Jan. 17 -paid and authorized MSB to mail me the package. I wrote in my home address in the Philippines.

Jan. 19- MSB sent the package.

Feb 1 – received the package.

Overall, it took 14 days for the package to arrive on my doorstep.

Here’s a quick guide:

Once the item is in your account, go to your dashboard

Confirm that the package is correct (they usually attach a picture, just click the “view item” button as seen on the picture above. Then this’ll pop out:

Tick the check box to see your delivery options:

The click check out. You’ll be redirected to this page. Enter your delivery address, choose your mode of payment and voila!

You’re done.

If you’re new to this, I suggest to read MSB’s FAQ page on their website.

A few tips:

If the volumetric weight of your package is higher than its actual weight, you’ll have to pay the latter. Say, your package weighs 1lb but it was packaged in a big box. They will take the box’s dimensions and calculate the volumetric weight based on that. So it’s possible that you will have to pay 3x more than the actual weight of your package. What I do is contact the seller and ask them to pack it as compactly or as small as they can without compromising the security of the package.

I suggest getting insurance for high value products.

Taxes? Customs taxes? They got it covered.

They don’t do consolidation so better buy stuff from one store if possible.

If you have questions, feel free to write a comment or send me an email.

Happy shopping 😀

Shopping Online

I have been shopping online since 2013 and I can say that online shopping has improved A LOT. I am in Germany right now and I have been using Amazon but here are some sites that you might want to check out as well.

Temu

I don’t think a lot of people here know about this but it’s like Aliexpress but with a more user-friendly interface. I think almost all products are shipped from China so expect it to arrive in a week or more. I usually get some decor or some stuff for the house like a broom, tissue holder, mini-printer, etc. And there’s almost always a coupon you can use.

Aliexpress

Instead of buying a digital weighing scale for €10, I bought it from Aliexpress for €1,79 (Shipping was free because my order in total was more than €10.) I also bought some writing materials/stationery here.

Ebay

I got some good refurbished items here. I moved last year and I got some of my furniture here. They held up well.

Cashback

In Germany, they have the `Payback´Card (Do they know that actually means ‘Revenge’?). In the Philippines, we have Shopback. Click here to get started. (This is a referral link). I have gotten Php4000+ back because of it.

In my opinion, it’s better to use a credit card than a debit card to shop online. You can get points and there are a lot of promos and discounts. Don’t have one yet? Apply here for a credit card with Unionbank. (For Philippine citizens and residents only) I have been satisfied with their services so far. Use my link to sign up and get a welcome gift once approved. (Check their website what their welcome gift is since it changes from time to time.)

Alibaba

I’ve never actually tried buying anything from here but I’ve been considering it. If you are interested in buying big ticket items like a huge designer sofa, you might want to check it out.

Shein

I think at this point every one and their mother knows about Shein. I have found some really nice clothes there. They have stepped up their game recently.

Sinsay

They have really cute home goods and decors. Their clothes are nice too. Some have even better quality than more expensive fast fashion brands like Zara and the like.

What I bought in the Philippines

I live in Germany and prices of some goods can be way too high and sometimes, you can’t just find what you want. Here are some of the things I brought to Germany with me:

Keycaps

I am using it to write this right now and it feels really nice. Looks nice too. I got one from Shopee and some I bought from Taobao (I had it delivered to my sister who lives in China). Aren’t they so cute?

Balms and Ointments

There is Tiger Balm here but they’re so expensive. One costs like 6 Euros. I got these for under a hundred pesos (less than 2Euros) each and some of them cost only 1 Euro.

Inhalers

I love the new inhalers coming out of the market. They’re so cute. These are from Thailand. Such an inhaler can cost more than 6 Euros here.

Inhalers and more ointments

Powerbanks

These are so cute and functional at the same time. I love how you can charge your phone and the powerbank itself in different ways.

Gourmet Tuyo

Definitely a need!

Skincare

I bought this tinted sunscreen and normal sunscreen from this Filipino brand I saw on Tiktok and I have been loving them.

Mini wet wipes

I can barely find something like this in Germany. (Yes, there is Tempo but those are dry tissues)

Menthol Patches

I am not getting any younger.

There will be a part 2 it seems.
